General information
Babaneuris Marani Saperavi is an authentic dry red wine made from 100% Saperavi, originating from the village of Babaneuri in the heart of Kakheti, Georgia. This wine is produced by Babaneuris Marani, a small-scale winery that combines modern precision with Georgian tradition.
The grapes come from vineyards located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, on clay and limestone rich soils. The wine is fermented and matured in underground qvevri’s, according to the age-old Georgian method. After fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the skins and lees for months, which provides strength, structure and aromatic complexity.
Flavour profile Babaneuris Marani Saperavi
Deep ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose ripe aromas of black cherry, plums, leather and a subtle earthy touch. Sometimes this wine shows a slight cork-like aroma in the first few minutes after opening, but this is not a fault – it is an expression of reduction through the qvevri process.
After decanting, a wine opens up with spicy depth, dark fruit and an earthy, firm core. Full and structured on the palate, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a robust, long-lasting finish.

Did you know
The Babaneuris Marani vineyards are located at an altitude of 550 metres and benefit from fresh mountain air and sunny days. This gives the wine a unique combination of power and freshness. Traditional qvevri vinification can produce a slightly reductive aroma upon opening — this disappears completely after aeration and is a natural part of this wine style.
