“Wine People” is a project by one of Georgia’s largest wine producers to help Georgia’s smallest producers. They have been looking for very small winemakers who struggle to reach the market because of their limited editions, but who produce very special wines.
This straw-colored amber wine from the Kisi grape is made with the Georgian traditional method, in Qvevri by Ketevan Aladashvili. The wine is produced according to a traditional method, which means that the fermentation of the grapes for 6 months takes place in a Qvevri. A qvevri is a large earthenware pot, which is buried in the ground where the wine is often fermented without the addition of yeast. Due to this method, the wine cannot be characterized as a usual white wine, the color is more amber colored and can be drunk like a red wine.
With notes of apricot, raisins and dried figs, this wine pairs well with roast chicken, seafood, salads and cheese.
