Ethno’s Marani is a small winery founded by, among others, Lado Robakidze, a professional bank director who also wanted to produce wine according to sustainable and organic principles. Ethno is one of the few Georgian wineries with organic certification. They produce only about 30,000 bottles annually, with a great deal of attention and care given to the production process. Many of their wines (including this wine made from the Rkatsiteli grape) are still fermented in the traditional Georgian way, in a Qvevri (an earthenware jar buried in the ground—sometimes up to 5,000 liters in size).
This Rkatsiteli wine has fresh aromas of apple, peach, and orange peel. But also a hint of caramel and (after some time in the glass) the scent of honey. A versatile wine that can be enjoyed lightly chilled (12-14 degrees) or at room temperature (18 degrees).
The wine pairs well with smoked fish, (salad with) goat cheese, but also sushi surprisingly pairs well with this amber wine!
