The Tavankari winery combines the traditional Qvevri method with the current European method whereby maturation takes place in oak barrels. The result is a fantastic wine, which has developed both the strength and taste of Saperavi grape during the fermentation in the Qvevri, but has also softened the tannins by allowing the wine to rest on oak for 12 months.
It starts with a beautiful ruby red color to enjoy before you take the first sip. The aromas include notes of ripe cherries mixed with black currant and soft tannins by aging on oak.
This wine will combine perfectly with grilled meat and game dishes that can be paired with a nice sauce.
The wine is ideal for long periods in the cellar to further develop the beautiful taste. In this case it can be adviced to take the red seal off the bottle to let the cork breathe.
