This beautiful Dakishvili Family Selection Cuvee Amber wine is made from the Kisi, Rkatsiteli, and Mtsvane grapes. The Dakishvili family is a true winemaking family where winemaking is passed down from generation to generation. Giorgi Dakishvili, once the chief winemaker at Teliani Valley, now at Schuchmann / Vinoterra, also has his own vineyards Dakishvili, Orgo / Teleda. For the first time, Giorgi has now made wines which he releases under the family name Dakishvili. And it is understandable why he proudly puts his name on these wines: they are fantastic wines!
The grapes are grown in the heart of the village of Kondoli on the right bank of the Alazani River in Kakheti. This Dakishvili Amber wine owes its beautiful amber color to the long contact with the skin in the Qvevri. It is a fleshy and elegant wine with aromas of dried fruit, almonds, and sweet spices. The taste is pleasant, harmonious, elegant, and durable due to a well-balanced aftertaste.
The winemaker knows how to merge the characteristics of the three grapes into a beautiful bouquet of aromas. This is truly a wine to enjoy!
In Japan, the white Qvevri wines (also called amber wines) have also been discovered as a perfect combination with sushi. The tannins are easy to combine with salty soy sauce, while the other aromas are easy to pair with fish.
The wine can be enjoyed immediately but can also be tasted as it develops over the years (under the right conditions, of course) up until 2040.
