General Information
Taoba Orange Rkatsiteli-Kisi is an intriguing amber wine from Kakheti, Georgia, capturing the essence of 8,000 years of wine tradition in a single bottle. This wine is made from Rkatsiteli and Kisi, two of the most characterful indigenous grape varieties. The Rkatsiteli comes from old vines on blue slate soils, while the younger Kisi grows on limestone in a cooler microclimate. In the cellar, whole Rkatsiteli bunches are vinified and aged in qvevris, some of which undergo a short oak maturation. The Kisi is destemmed and fermented in stainless steel to preserve its freshness.
Tasting Profile of Taoba Orange Rkatsiteli-Kisi
The wine has a clear amber color with a golden-orange glow. On the nose: dried apricot, honey, orange peel, vanilla, grapefruit, and green herbs. The taste is rich, deep, and layered: soft bitterness, ripe stone fruit, a touch of oak, and an elegant, spicy finish. The qvevri fermentation provides structure and texture, the oak aging rounds it out, and the Kisi’s freshness brings liveliness.
