This elegant wine is made from the oldest Georgian red grape variety Saperavi. The grapes are grown in the village of Shalauri in the region of Telavi in Kakheti, The vineyard is located at 550 m above sea level.
The wine is produced in a traditional method of Kakheti, in a Qvevri, fermented with grape skins, ripe stems and by natural yeast. Afterwards it is aged in oak barrique for 8 months and bottled without filtration.
The wine boasts a dark ruby color. Reveals intense, fruity and spicy nose, starting from black berry and ripe cherry changing to aromatic tobacco.
The initial palate exhibits sweet cherry, prune and chocolate aromas. The mid palate is wide, rich and smooth highlighting again ripe black fruit flavors. Finish is long and spicy with grilled red bell-pepper and mature grape and oak tannins.
This wine will combine perfectly with with lamb, steak, other red meat and a hard cheese.
For optimal taste experience, it is advised to decant the wine 30 minutes before serving.
