Deep cherry color with ruby-red hues. Powerful and complex nose filled with aromas of ripe fruit and spicy notes. Scents reminiscent of licorice, truffle, and cacao. The palate is balanced, delicate, and flavorful. The wine has a silky smooth start followed by persistent and supple tannins. Very elegant. Pair this wine with a nice homemade stew, oven-baked or grilled meats, sausages, salted cheeses, and/or a variety of rice dishes.
The Reserva is a special wine, made exclusively from the highest quality grapes. For a Rioja Reserva, a maturation period of at least one year in oak barrels is required, complemented by one year of bottle aging. At Bodegas Valdemar, a longer aging period in barrels of 27 months is chosen, with 65% in American oak and 35% in French oak barrels. The extended aging is selected to allow the wine to develop more and gain more finesse before bottling. The result is a beautiful Reserva, where wood and fruit are perfectly combined.
