General Information
Ocho Khikhvi is a full-bodied, dry amber wine made from 100% Khikhvi, a historic grape from the Kakheti region known for its aromatic strength and natural sweetness.
The grapes come from the vineyards of Chikaani (Kvareli) and are vinified traditionally in buried qvevri. During the 6 months of skin contact, the wine develops its deep color, pronounced tannins, and layered aroma profile. This style is typical of powerful amber wines from Eastern Georgia.
Tasting Profile of Ocho Khikhvi
The wine has a deep amber color with coppery reflections. On the nose, you can recognize candied hazelnut, black tea, dried flowers, and subtle spices.
On the palate, the wine is dry, firm, and pronounced, with powerful tannins, lively acidity, and a long, layered finish. A wine that is both complex and powerful – ideal for advanced amber drinkers.

Did You Know
Khikhvi is an ancient Kakhetian grape that was once mainly used for dessert wines due to its ability to develop a lot of sugar. In this dry, traditional qvevri vinification, it reveals a different side: powerful, layered, and complex, with striking aromas and a firm structure. Ocho makes optimal use of these qualities in this artisanal amber wine from Chikaani.
