This Bon Courage Pinotage is made from the eponymous South African unique grape variety Pinotage. The whole grapes ferment in rotating tanks and then macerate for an additional 2 days. After fermentation, half of the grape skins are removed, and the mixture is pumped into barrels to continue fermenting. This is followed by a maturation of 12 to 15 months in French oak.
Once in the glass, the wine reveals a complex bouquet of aromas of ripe banana, mulberry, and plum. On the palate, it offers a smooth, full-bodied wine with a velvety soft mouthfeel and silky tannins.
This Pinotage pairs well with hearty meat dishes, roasts, and grilled meats with a sweet barbecue sauce. It is also a true delight to drink with lightly spiced dishes.
