General Information
Wine People Red Blend Kakheti is a powerful, dry red qvevri wine from Napareuli, in the eastern wine region of Kakheti (Georgia). The wine is a blend of Saperavi and Merlot, vinified in traditional qvevris (underground clay vats). This wine is produced by Giorgi Babunidze, a 38-year-old professional winemaker with training in both Georgia and Germany. After years of experience at various wineries, he now produces natural, terroir-focused wines in his own cellar.
Tasting Profile of Wine People Red Blend Kakheti
The wine is deep ruby in color and has a full, powerful mouthfeel. On the nose, aromas of ripe blueberries, black cherry, blackberries, and a hint of spice dominate. The taste is rich and intense: ripe dark fruit, soft tannins, a fine acidity, and a long, rounded finish. The qvevri fermentation gives the wine extra structure and complexity, without oak influence.

Fun Fact
Giorgi Babunidze is trained in both Georgia and Germany, and has gained his experience at various wineries both domestically and abroad. His cellar in Kakheti combines expertise with tradition: qvevri technique, manual vinification, and indigenous grapes form the basis. The addition of Merlot to Saperavi provides extra roundness, making this wine accessible without losing strength.
