General Information
Moersleutel Crank the Spring is a seasonal Hazy IPA with 5.5% alcohol, brewed in Alkmaar by the innovative brewers of Moersleutel. This spring beer returns annually and is developed to celebrate the start of the season. Made with a powerful combination of Citra, Mosaic, and Sabro hops, this beer is a tropical fruit explosion in your glass.
Although the label calls it spring, the content does so even more loudly – with a modern twist, as you can expect from Moersleutel.
Tasting Profile of Moersleutel Crank the Spring
Crank the Spring is a cloudy blond color, with a full foam head. The aroma bursts with mango, passion fruit, and orange, with hints of coconut in the background, coming from the Sabro hop. The mouthfeel is soft, almost creamy, thanks to the full body and careful malt build-up.
The flavor combines tropical juiciness with a light, refreshing bitterness, ensuring excellent drinkability. The finish is fresh and fruity.
Serving Advice
Due to its fresh and fruity character, this beer is excellent for sunny spring days. Serve chilled around 6–8 °C, and pair with:
-
Grilled chicken with lime and coriander
-
Salad with mango and feta
-
Fried white fish or shrimp
-
Fresh fruit or a young cheese platter
Perfect for picnics, terraces, or just your first BBQ of the year.
Fun Fact
Although Crank the Spring is labeled as Maibock on the label, in style and execution it is more of a Hazy IPA with a spring character. The hop selection and fruity intensity clearly place it within the modern IPA tradition.
