Labara Otskhanuri Sapere is a dry red wine from Imereti, Western Georgia, produced by Labara Family Wine Cellar. The wine is made from 100% Otskhanuri Sapere, a rare and local grape variety known for its crisp acidity and distinctive character.
The grapes are hand-harvested from sustainably managed vineyards. After fermentation, the wine ages with skin contact for approximately one month and then continues to age for another twelve months in traditional qvevri. The alcohol content is 13%. This wine received an IWSC Bronze Award.
Taste Profile
In the glass, the wine displays a dark cherry to garnet red hue with purple nuances. On the nose, aromas of blackcurrant, elderberry, and wild plum emerge, complemented by fresh fruit notes.
On the palate, the wine is well-balanced, with a clear yet pleasant acidity. The structure is tight and lively, making the wine highly suitable for lovers of fresh, characterful red wines. The finish is clean and persistent.
Serving suggestion
Preferably serve this wine at 16–18 °C to allow the fruity and fresh character to fully come into its own.
