General Information
Domaine de l’Aste Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Mouches is an elegant red Burgundy made from 100% Pinot Noir, originating from one of the most beautiful Premier Cru vineyards in Santenay, located on a cool hillside with a favorable microclimate.
The wine is produced by David Moreau, who took over the family estate from his grandfather Jean Moreau. He named it ‘L’Aste’ as a reference to both the hamlet where the estate is located and to the ‘thyrsus,’ the staff of the wine god Bacchus. Moreau belongs to a young generation of Burgundian winemakers who combine the classical values of terroir expression with modern craftsmanship and an organic approach.
The Premier Cru Clos des Mouches produces a wine with tension, complexity, and refined power, thanks to the combination of altitude, limestone soil, and careful vinification with minimal intervention.

Fun Fact
The name Clos des Mouches comes from the Burgundian word for bees: “mouches.” This Premier Cru is located on one of the better ventilated ridges of Santenay, which results in thin skins with high aromatic concentration — ideal for refined Pinot Noir. David Moreau’s organic approach emphasizes this terroir typicity to the fullest.
