General Information
Baia’s Wine Tsolikouri is a characterful, dry white wine from the village of Obcha, in the western Georgian region of Imereti. The wine is made from 100% Tsolikouri, a local grape variety that perfectly suits the cooler climate of the area.
The wine is named after Baia Abuladze, a young female winemaker who completed her studies in Tbilisi and then returned to her hometown to revive the family vineyard. She makes her wines according to the Imeretian interpretation of the Georgian tradition: in above-ground churi – the local variant of qvevri – which are buried outside and sealed with a layer of clay.
This wine is made without excessive skin maceration, emphasizing fruit, floral notes, and structure. A perfect introduction to Georgian wine culture.
Tasting Profile of Baia’s Wine Tsolikouri
The wine has a light golden color. On the nose, you can recognize chamomile, citrus, apricot, and orange peel, complemented by an earthy undertone.
On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied, and layered, with soft acidity, a slight tannic structure, and a long, elegant finish. The balance between floral freshness and subtle spiciness makes the wine both accessible and complex.

Fun Fact
In Imereti, traditional vinification clearly differs from that in eastern Georgia: the churi are buried above ground, and the style is generally more elegant, fresher, and lighter than in Kakheti. Baia Abuladze applies this method with great precision and feeling, demonstrating with this wine how Tsolikouri can be expressed in a feminine, accessible, and authentic style.
