General Information
Vazisubani Estate Saperavi is a robust qvevri wine from Kakheti, made from 100% Saperavi. This powerful teinturier grape is known for its deep color, ripe black fruit, and aging potential.
The wine is produced at the historic Vazisubani Estate, founded in 1891 by nobleman Sulkhan Chavchavadze – a pioneer of modern Georgian viticulture. Today, Lado Uzunashvili, an oenologist from a family with eleven generations of winemaking experience, leads the winemaking process.
The fermentation and aging take place in local qvevris, buried in the earth. The wine rests here on skins and lees and is only harvested in spring – after a wintering period during which it develops its energy and balance.

The taste is dry, full, and concentrated, with juicy black fruit, soft yet still youthful tannins, and a long, powerful finish. The palate is memorable, with a balance between depth and freshness. With additional bottle aging, the wine will further refine itself.

Fun Fact
The Vazisubani estate became a center of wine innovation in the 19th century under the leadership of Sulkhan Chavchavadze, and has continued that tradition to this day. Under the guidance of Lado Uzunashvili, with international experience and a family history of eleven generations of winemaking, the wines are vinified in qvevris as has been done in Kakheti for thousands of years. This Saperavi is a powerful tribute to that deep tradition.
